Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today- God brings to each of us the personal revelation of the truth of Kingdom life, religion dictates corporately what people think the truth for life is.
Romans 14:12-13,17,23 NLT
Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God. So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.
The kingdom of God is not about obedience to religious laws created by man, “it is not a matter of what we eat or drink.” It’s about living a “life of goodness,” that is determined by your intimate relationship with God and the direction He gives you, it’s about following the convictions He gives you. “Sin’ is determined by you, “if you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.” It’s a personal account we give to God, not a corporate account.
So let’s stop judging and condemning one another based on our personal convictions. Let us see everyone on a journey with God and not judge based upon our lens of reference that God has given us. Yes, we can listen to each other, share our convictions, as long as it is done in such a way that does not direct, impose, manipulate others to feel, believe, that they must also follow. Share, then invite Holy Spirit to bring to them personally their convictions of right and wrong, life and death. Religion always says ‘I am right, you are wrong, and we must separate because right and wrong can’t mix.’ God says, “there is no right and wrong that is corporately thrust upon all, everything is personal with me, I will bring the conviction individually then enable and call to account.’
Here is how we are to live – “live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall.” Live in “peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,” which flows from a place of non-judgement. How often the peace and joy of life in the Kingdom are sacrificed on the altar of ‘I am right and you are wrong?’ We have made our determined truth the priority of life, not my fellow believer. We, I, the church, must stop dictating sin, then sitting in judgement, then separating over that judgement. It really is about trusting the Spirit to be the teacher of each individual. We don’t trust each other to listen and walk in intimacy with God and so we step in and take the place of God. We must stop playing God. Hear it again – “If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.” It’s my conscious, my relationship, my sin, not your rules, that matter.
Enforced law always ends up in rebellion because it’s not personally received. Only from the intimacy of love is my heart and soul postured to receive, and love, the words of life that God brings us. Only then will I desire them and renew my life in them. Rules = rebellion, Love = life.
OMG, I have such a long way to go here. I want to make my truth everyone’s truth, please help me see the sin and death this is. May I always share my truth in such a way that sends you to Holy Spirit to see if it is your truth. May I always live from love into life, for it is here that the peace and joy of the Kingdom are released.
Thank you that you killed religion and call me to freedom. Thank you that you want me personally to follow you, not behave to gain the approval and acceptance of man. Thank you that love is my motivation for following not fear of condemnation. Thank you that you personally show me where my sin is and lead me in your ways daily. How blessed is a life lived this way!
Meditation truth – If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.
How much of your walk with God is structured by rules received from people and not from the intimate love of God?
How free do you live?
