Observation

The way I think is the way I behave. I become a new person by changing the way I think. And I don’t do this on my own, I “let God transform me.” The life that God desires to give me, the abundant full amazing life of His intention, is walked in and lived out as I allow, invite and participate in His renewal of my thinking.

 

The world thinks and behaves in a way that is contrary to the ways of God. The process of renewed thinking is –

Firstly allowing God to bring to my awareness the lies, deception, pain, and shaping stories that the world has invested into my life that have shaping power over me. Stories that do not align with His will.

Secondly, God invites me into a place of repentance where I lay down these stories and I renounce the power I have given them in my life by my acceptance of them. This often requires the forgiveness of those who influenced and empowered this story in my life. It also requires me to visit intimately the traumatic situations of life where core truths that I have accepted and believed were established.

Thirdly God then invites me in the power of the name of Jesus to separate myself from these stories, to break them off my mind, will, emotions, flesh in the name of Jesus.

Fourthly, I renew my mind in the new truth of God’s will. I meditate upon and participate in an intimate experience of the presence of God where this truth is experienced and then established in my life.

Lastly, I give praise for my new life.

Now, this is often an exercise that is engaged in often. Stories that have had my life for years do not be replaced by a single new thought. Neuroscience tells us that there is a process of establishing new truth pathways. So do not feel defeated when the old stories raise their voice and ask for re-acceptance, simply go through the process of renewal again. The enemy of God is always saying “nothing has changed,” this is one lie that must be destroyed if we are to enjoy the life of God’s will and intent.

 

You see what God sees as good, pleasing, and perfect is you being completely free to live in the amazing life of His intent. It’s restoring you to the true self you and enabling you to have the passion from His presence, and the enabling of His presence, to live the life of His will.

 

Application

I will not try and dogmatically reform my behaviour. I will come to God and allow Him to lead me in the renewal of my mind. I will journey through the death and resurrection experience of repentance and renewal daily as I take captive the thoughts and ways of the world and have them submit to the will of God. I will live the life of His will for this is a great life I desire. I will not be trapped in the world’s systems, my pain, and deceptive lies, I will be diligent to know what is shaping me and be responsible for engaging in the renewal process with my God.

Thank you that you stand prepared and postured for my healing and freedom through new thinking. Thank you for the invitation. A blessed man knows where life is, a deeply blessed man knows how to get there. You have deeply blessed me.

How often have I accepted stories that torment me and rob me of life? How deeply are poor stories shaping my life in a way that I do not desire?
