2 Corinthians 9:6-8 – Hilarious generosity!
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – generosity is a heart issue and flows in joy. Whilst generosity never seeks to get, in the economy of the Kingdom it is the soil that realises the harvest of the extravagance of heaven. God desires to be so deeply extravagant towards us but He can’t, He doesn’t get His way, the nature of His being, love, mediates the release of His desire. God is never postured in any other way than to pour His extravagance upon us, the question is are we postured to say “yes” to His outpouring?
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 TPT
[6] Here’s my point. A stingy sower will reap a meager harvest, but the one who sows from a generous spirit will reap an abundant harvest. [7] Let giving flow from your heart, not from a sense of religious duty. Let it spring up freely from the joy of giving-all because God loves hilarious generosity! [8] Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything-every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.
1 Corinthians 13:9,12 – the foolishness of demanding I see clearly with partial sight.
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – the foolishness and the high cost of defending my version of right when I have incomplete knowledge. It’s foolishness to make the claim and it is a travesty when I am aware of the cost.
1 Corinthians 13:9,12 TPT
[9] Our present knowledge and our prophecies are but partial, [12] For now we see but a faint reflection of riddles and mysteries as though reflected in a mirror, but one day we will see face-to-face. My understanding is incomplete now, but one day I will understand everything, just as everything about me has been fully understood.
2 Corinthians 1:4,6 – for me, for others
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – everything about the Kingdom of God is other focused. Blessing flows, love flows, our experiences flow, from self to others. This is the design of the Kingdom. For me, for others.
2 Corinthians 1:4,6 TPT
[4] He always comes alongside us to comfort us in every suffering so that we can come alongside those who are in any painful trial. We can bring them this same comfort that God has poured out upon us. [6] If troubles weigh us down, that just means that we will receive even more comfort to pass on to you for your deliverance! For the comfort pouring into us empowers us to bring comfort to you. And with this comfort upholding you, you can endure victoriously the same suffering that we experience.
Matthew 28:2-4,11-13 – make my truth, truth?!?
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – we don’t want truth we just want our truth. What does it cost? I’ll pay! There is something deeply wrong with us in the way we handle our versions of truth. It’s not setting us free, it’s imprisoning us in turmoil.
Matthew 28:2-4,11-13 TPT
[2-4] Suddenly, the earth shook violently beneath their feet as the angel of the Lord Jehovah descended from heaven. Lightning flashed around him and his robe was dazzling white! The guards were stunned and terrified-lying motionless like dead men. Then the angel walked up to the tomb, rolled away the stone, and sat on top of it! [11] After the women left the tomb, a few of the guards went into Jerusalem and told the chief priests everything they had seen and heard. [12] So the chief priests called a meeting with all the religious leaders and came up with a plan. They bribed the guards with a large sum of money [13] and told them, “Tell everyone, ‘While we were asleep, his disciples came at night and stole his body!’
Matthew 17:22-23 – You can only see what your eyes will see
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – we miss so much when we are fixed in our version of truth and unable to posture ourselves for discovery. So much of God is mystery and you will never engage in mystery from a defensive fixed position. Mystery is discovered through childlike openness to discovery and a teachable spirit.
Matthew 17:22-23 TPT
[22] When they all gathered together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed and turned over to his enemies. [23] They will kill him and in three days he will be resurrected.” When the disciples heard these words they were devastated.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5,14 – How does wisdom come?
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – is God known by listening to others articulate with wisdom what they have read, or discovered, or is God known only through Spirit revelation? If wisdom comes by Spirit illumination do we invite and encourage, make space and prioritise this, in our leading of others? Or do we just keep on speaking?
1 Corinthians 2:4-5,14 TPT
[4] The message I preached and how I preached it was not an attempt to sway you with persuasive arguments but to prove to you the almighty power of God’s Holy Spirit. [5] For God intended that your faith not be established on man’s wisdom but by trusting in his almighty power. [14] Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of God’s Spirit, for they make no sense to him. He can’t understand the revelations of the Spirit because they are only discovered by the illumination of the Spirit.
John 16:33 – How do deal with trouble and turmoil?
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – I am not guaranteed a free pass from trouble and sorrow, this is not the promise of scripture, in actual fact I am promised that I will walk through sorrow and trouble. The question is how do I walk? Where do I turn, what is my coping, or my triumphing mechanism, when these times inevitably come to share my journey? Where is my peace and rest in these storms, where is my hope and overcoming?
John 16:33 TPT
[33] And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!”
Romans 3:20 – Don’t try and be good enough!
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – when you use the wrong tool for the job you make a mess. The law is not a tool to be used to be made right.
Romans 3:20 NIV
[20] Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
Matthew 6:1-4 – Doing good can easily be bad
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – the motives of my doing are more important in the Kingdom of God than my doing.
Matthew 6:1-4 TPT
[1] “Examine your motives to make sure you’re not showing off when you do your good deeds, only to be admired by others; otherwise, you will lose the reward of your heavenly Father. [2] So when you give to the poor, don’t announce it and make a show of it just to be seen by people, like the hypocrites in the streets and in the marketplace. They’ve already received their reward! [3] But when you demonstrate generosity, do it with pure motives and without drawing attention to yourself. [4] Give secretly and your Father, who sees all you do, will reward you openly.”
John 8:4-5,7 – Do the guilty get stoned?
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – what do we do with the guilty, stone or restore? Is punishment restorative? What is God like with the guilty?
John 8:4-5,7 TPT
[4] Then they said to Jesus, “Teacher, we caught this woman in the very act of adultery. [5] Doesn’t Moses’ law command us to stone to death a woman like this? Tell us, what do you say we should do with her?” [7] Angry, they kept insisting that he answer their question, so Jesus stood up and looked at them and said, “Let’s have the man who has never had a sinful desire throw the first stone at her.”
Romans 2:4 – Kindness leads to licence or repentance?
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – what do I do with God’s kindness towards me? Do I know it? Do I use it and abuse it? Or does it lead me into full life?
Romans 2:4 TPT
[4] Do the riches of his extraordinary kindness make you take him for granted and despise him? Haven’t you experienced how kind and understanding he has been to you? Don’t mistake his tolerance for acceptance. Do you realise that all the wealth of his extravagant kindness is meant to melt your heart and lead you into repentance?
3 John 1:11 – The overflow of goodness
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – good is of God, it comes from him alone, I don’t create goodness in me, he creates it in me and I encounter it in him, and then from encounter, I overflow goodness. It’s all in the seeing.
3 John 1:11 TPT
[11] Whoever does good is of God; whoever does evil has not seen God.
John 2:23-25 – Known and Loved!
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – nothing that is kept in the dark can be healed by the light. But I will only bring into the light what I think the light can handle.
John 2:23-25 TPT
[23] While Jesus was at the Passover Feast, the number of his followers began to grow, and many gave their allegiance to him because of all the miraculous signs they had seen him doing! [24] But Jesus did not yet entrust himself to them, because he knew how fickle human hearts can be. [25] He didn’t need anyone to tell him about human nature, for he fully understood what man was capable of doing.
1 John 3:5-6,8 – Intimacy is the answer to sin
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – the more I am with Jesus the more I see myself, as a man with no sin. Union with him eradicates sin in me.
1 John 3:5-6,8 TPT
[5] And you know without a doubt that Jesus was revealed to eradicate sins, and there is no sin in him. Anyone who continues to live in union with him will not sin. [6] But the one who continues sinning hasn’t seen him with discernment or known him by intimate experience. [8] The reason the Son of God was revealed was to undo and destroy the works of the devil.
