Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today- God is not known through study He is only known through intimacy.
1 Corinthians 2:9-13 NLT
[9] That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” [10] But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. [11] No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. [12] And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. [13] When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths.
Observation
It takes God to know God. You will not work out, find out, embrace God by human intellectual investigation. God will not make sense to human intellect. It is only the Spirit of God, which is God, that reveals God to me. “For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.” I can raise in your thinking things about God, I can inspire you maybe with the beauty of the messages of God, but they will never become revealed as life-changing realities that shape your life without the Spirit’s personal revelation to you.
“No one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.” Can it be any more plainly put? It’s only through the intimate relation of Holy Spirit can you know the wonderful things of God. It’s is only the Spirit that can explain spiritual truths. Yet we come week in week out and hear the inspiration from the pulpit and often neglect the invitation to intimacy through which inspiration becomes shaped personally into my life’s story. Church becomes meaningless when the words of life don’t become lived life. God is not looking for us to become smarter in chapter and verse or cultural settings, He intended that our faith is liveable, and it becomes liveable when we come and receive the aliveness of the Spirit’s personal revelation. There is no other way!
I personally have both formally studied and intimately walked with the Spirit, my walking taught me the beauty of the Kingdom in a way that no classroom could have ever. It’s not intellect. It’s a knowing that is soul and spirit, it’s a knowing that is not investigated as much as birthed. It’s a knowing that shapes life as opposed to interests my thinking. It’s supernatural knowing and it’s the only way to know God. God reveals himself.
Application
I will coffee with my God and allow him to bring the life of his presence supernaturally into my being. I will allow the word of God, and other forms of inspiration to form my conversation with Him. I will never rely on any other rhythm of life outside of intimacy to shape my spiritual life.

Thank you that you are personal and not paper. Thank you that you do not call me to study a word but to bring myself into the presence of the word of life itself and be transformed. Thank you that you make yourself personally available to me. As I write that it blows me away. I am a blessed man.
