Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – I am made right so I can have life – right!
Titus 3:4-7 NIV
[4] But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, [5] he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, [6] whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, [7] so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Observation
Wow! So much said in so few words. Salvation and righteousness, rebirth and renewal, heir and hope, all bestowed on me because of God’s kindness and love. Not because of me, but totally because of his mercy, and not poured out sparingly but generously. These few sentences are given to shape my life. They are declarations of who I am, or rather who I become when the God of love appears and I become present in her presence.
God became present in the flesh form of Jesus, and in and through his life was released to all humanity, everything humanity needs for life in abundance, love, security, worth, hope, significance, and meaning. And as I become now present to the continuation of his presence in spiritual form, then I move and have my being in all that he brings and enables in me. This washing spiritual rebirth and renewal story is not a belief structure to adhere to, it’s not a religious institution to align to, and it’s not laws for life to bind to. It’s her intimate presence to abide in. You don’t learn this life, you are transformed by your encounters with his love, kindness and beauty.
That’s why firstly I’m made right, righteous, perfect in her presence, “been justified by his grace.” That’s a completed finished act in my past, by him act never changes. I am right by grace and forgiveness and that’s how I stay right. It’s a complete state for the whole of my life. And it’s from this right place that I become an heir of all that is his. And it’s not inherited at death, my inheritance comes at my rebirth. I inherit his divine nature, his image in me is restored. I inherit his mind and his presence to lead me in all truth. I inherit his power as she resides intimately with me. I inherit at birth the fullness of his kingdom, ways and likeness. There is no apprenticeship or need to mature, it’s not earned or deserved, rather from my awareness, and faith, of what I have inherited, and from the intimacy of her presence, all that is mine in him becomes me. And then let’s put the ice cream on top, I am given the hope of eternal life to shape the randomness, brokenness, and painfulness that is the journey of my short time here.
