Intimacy

John 4:21 – Close the door and open your heart.

Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – there is only one true place of worship, heart worship. Our buildings carry no significance and can hinder heart worship when held out as the place where we meet God.

John 4:21 TPT
[21] “Believe me, dear woman, the time has come when you won’t worship the Father on a mountain nor in Jerusalem, but in your heart.

Observation

We live in a day where worship is personal and intimate. It is not place specific but a mediation and posture of my heart. God is not to be found in exclusively in our buildings, He is found within us, around us, in everything. There is no place where He is not, there is nothing that he does not inhabit and hold together by his presence. It’s not turn up at a building, but open my eyes to see and my heart to sense His presence, and worship flows. We have for too long ‘trained’ people to be at the temple at the allotted time and not given tutoring in being present to His presence. And as people leave the regularity of the temple they are unequipped for the new landscape of personal worship. I am not a deserter of corporate building gathered worship, I enjoy this space, but it is complimentary to my heart worship, no building, no problem, my worship continues in all its fullness.

My experience is that heart worship leads to corporate worship, not a replacement. The love of the Father experienced in worship releases me to love others and commune with others who experience the same love as I do. I love the rhythm in my life of corporate lovers gathering, here I stay in orbit with some of the richest relationships in my life. And orbit is important, it’s hard for relationships to flourish outside of regular orbit, so my worshipping together with friends who know and walk in God’s love blesses me with deep friendships for life’s journey. When we desert the building we have to make deliberate intentionality for friends orbits.

Application

I will always pleasure in the rhythms of personal worship, contemplation, and heart meetings with my God. I will never over emphasis’ the building in a way that destroys worship outside its doors, but I will worship with friends as my orbit of rich relationships.

Response

Thank you that you always want me personally to be with you, present to your presence. I am amazed that this is your joy. Me, your joy, inconceivable, and amazing. Thank you that you do not demand worship and trade things with me for my worship. I thank you that you only receive worship that flows freely from my heart in response to your love, mercy, grace and beauty. I love my life worshipping you.

Meditation

Meditate. – worship is in your heart.
Consider
What rhythms in your life place you before the throne for worship?
Do you see, feel, and engage with the presence of God in all things and all around you?
