John 16:33 – How do deal with trouble and turmoil?
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – I am not guaranteed a free pass from trouble and sorrow, this is not the promise of scripture, in actual fact I am promised that I will walk through sorrow and trouble. The question is how do I walk? Where do I turn, what is my coping, or my triumphing mechanism, when these times inevitably come to share my journey? Where is my peace and rest in these storms, where is my hope and overcoming?
John 16:33 TPT
[33] And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!”
1 Corinthians 15:6, 14-15,19,32, 43-44 – Hope in the future is the strength for the present.
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – no resurrection life then really there is no life. You can’t truely live as we were created in the flesh of your today without the hope of your spiritual immortal resurrection. If this is all there is then we will live selfishly, trying to satisfy the depth of our passions. But our passions are not fully met in this flesh existence, we have longings in us for more than we will ever realise in this here life, we were made with eternity hope in our hearts, for after life.
1 Corinthians 15:6, 14-15,19,32, 43-44
[6] He (Jesus) also appeared (after his death on the cross) to more than five hundred of his followers at the same time, most of whom are still alive as I write this, though a few have passed away.
[14] And if Christ has not been raised, all of our preaching has been for nothing and your faith is useless. [15] Moreover, if the dead are not raised, that would mean that we are false witnesses who are misrepresenting God. And that would mean that we have preached a lie, stating that God raised him from the dead, if in reality he didn’t. [19] If the only benefit of our hope in Christ is limited to this life on earth, we deserve to be pitied more than all others!
[32]….If the dead do not rise, then Let’s party all night, for tomorrow we die!
43] The body is “sown” in decay, but will be raised in immortality. It is “sown” in humiliation, but will be raised in glorification. [44] It is “sown” in weakness but will be raised in power. If there is a physical body, there is also a spiritual body.
Luke 2:10-12 – The most joyous news!
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – you can’t silence good news. This news is thousands of years old and is still celebrated worldwide. I think this shows how desperate our need is for rescue. You can’t do this life alone!
Luke 2:10-12 TPT
[10] But the angel reassured them, saying, “Don’t be afraid. For I have come to bring you good news, the most joyous news the world has ever heard! And it is for everyone everywhere! [11-12] For today in Bethlehem a rescuer was born for you. He is the Lord Yahweh, the Messiah.“
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 – Hope grounded grief.
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – the grief of the loss of love can never be removed from the path of life, but hope can ensure I can walk the road.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 TPT
[13] Beloved brothers and sisters, we want you to be quite certain about the truth concerning those who have passed away, so that you won’t be overwhelmed with grief like many others who have no hope. [14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who died while believing in him.
1 Thessalonians 3:4 – The beauty of suffering
This is the revelation that is shaping my life today – it’s my expectations that often let me down, and then I look to blame and why, and in so doing I can miss the beauty that is present there for me.
1 Thessalonians 3:4 TPT
[4] In fact, when we were with you we forewarned you: “Suffering and persecution is coming.” And so it has happened, as you well know.
James 5:7-8 – The Shaping Power of Hope
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – if I allow my eyes to see only today I will live only shaped by this day, but if I raise my gaze I will see the promise of God in my future and it will fuel hope and endurance for these days.
James 5:7-8 TPT
[7] Meanwhile, brothers and sisters, we must be patient and filled with expectation as we wait for the appearing of the Lord. Think about the farmer who has to patiently wait for the earth’s harvest as it ripens because of the early and latter rains. [8] So you also keep your hopes high and be patient, for the presence of the Lord is drawing closer.
1 Timothy 1:5 – It’s all about love
Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – love is all God wants for me and from me.
“For we reach the goal of fulfilling all the commandments when we love others deeply with a pure heart, a clean conscience, and sincere faith.”
Philippians 4:12-13 – Trained to overcome
Here is the revelation shaping my life today:
I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.
