Living abundantly

John 1:1-4 – Where are you looking for life?

Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – the one who creates life enables life. The search is over – rest!

John 1:1-4 TPT
[1] In the very beginning, the Living Expression was already there. And the Living Expression was with God, yet fully God. [2] They were together-face-to-face, in the very beginning. [3] And through his creative inspiration this Living Expression made all things, for nothing has existence apart from him! [4] Life came into being because of him, for his life is light for all humanity.

Observation

The spark that started life and the light that sustains and enables life invites me to live life in her embrace. It makes sense that the one responsible for the creation of life would know how to lead me into life in the fullness of her creative inspiration. I try often to make my own way in life but I seem to not be able to find life that lasts, life that fulfills, life that makes sense and holds meaning, outside of her presence. Consumerism, individualism, and the next ‘ism’ to come, all the ‘isms’ have failed humanity, for they are made by the creation, not the creator. He is the “light for all humanity,” is it time to allow light to dispel our made and invited darknesses?

“Nothing has existence apart from him,” everything holds together because of him and in him. I hold together in him. Why do we search so relentlessly for life on our terms when the terms of the one who created are so beautiful and so available? No one is outside her creative inspiration and no one will find the fullness of the intended life outside of her embrace. We settle for little glimpses of life, we try and buy, gain, engage, get, and search for life, but it is received freely from the one who holds it together. Imagine the freedom of resting in the embrace of the one who creates.

Application

Use my common sense, find life in the creator of life, lean into the intimacy of him embrace, and receive life.

Response

Thank you that you don’t create and walk away. You don’t set in motion and then watch on from a distance. Thank you that you create and hold it all together in yourself, and invite me into yourself so that I may experience the fullness of your creative inspiration. This is a beautiful life.

Meditation

Meditation – Life came into being because of him.

Consider:
Where am I trying to find life? In what, in whom, where?
Rather than searching is being held the way to find life?
