Living abundantly

Ephesians 3:16-19 – Complete for a full life.

Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – this prayer that God puts in the mouth of Paul displays God’s desire for my life. Complete for a full life.
Ephesians 3:16-19 NLT
[16] I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. [17] Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. [18] And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. [19] May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Observation

Here is what God desires for each of us – that we would live in His inner strength, in the intimacy of His presence, and experience the depth of His love. When you have this in Him we are made complete. Far cry from some demand to behave, God’s passion is to bring me into completeness in Him.
My life is not lived in my strength, it’s actually in my choice of weakness do I have the posture and desire to live from His strength, power and unlimited resources. His energy, His Spirit, is available to me when chosen. It’s not a takeover of a zombie kind, it’s His presence within supernaturally that enables me to live in the fullness of, and beyond, my natural capacity, talents and wisdom.
I do not do life alone. The indwelling presence of God is like a housemate. It’s sharing life without taking over my life. It’s residing with me, in the same space as me. It’s intimate but separate. It’s comfortable and not daunting. It’s intimate enough to know me, the real me, the ‘at home in my track pants’ me. I am known from a beautiful place, “Christ will make his home in your hearts.”
I am loved. I am not left to earn and deserve love, I am loved. It’s not theoretical love, it’s experienced, love. It’s beyond a love that I have ever experienced in its beauty, its intimacy, its acceptance, its generosity. I don’t understand it because it does not compute in my ‘worldly love’ experiences. Its width, height, depth and length will take my lifetime to explore its measures.

Application

Empowered, known and loved – that sounds pretty complete to me. I will live from this completeness, not questioning it, but exploring its intimacy and mystery.

Response

Thank you for life lived in and through you. Your desire for me is witnessed and experienced in your presence with me. Thank you that completeness for life is your desire for me.

Meditation

Meditation – Then you will be made complete
Consider:
If this ‘completeness’ is available to you, do you live in its experience?
How much of the measure of God’s love do you experience? What keeps you from these experiences?
