Here is the revelation that is shaping my life today – darkness has no power to destroy light or the invitation to walk in light. So why make sin such a big relational deal?
1 John 1:5,7 TPT
[5] God is pure light. You will never find even a trace of darkness in him. [7] But if we keep living in the pure light that surrounds him, we share unbroken fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, continually cleanses us from all sin.
Observation
Sin does not interrupt “unbroken fellowship” with the Father. Actually unbroken fellowship, “living in the pure light,” exposes sin. You cannot walk close to God and not have the darkness of sin exposed in your life, for that is what light does, so it would make no sense if sin interrupted walking with God, His very presence would destroy you from being in His presence.
So keep living in the intimacy of fellowship with your sin, knowing that sin has been taken care of by the blood of Jesus which continually cleanses us from the power of sin to separate us from the intimacy of fellowship. When you know your sin does not interrupt intimacy with God you can now allow intimacy to reveal sin, to bring you into awareness of your brokenness, and to without concern. But when we empower sin to separate God’s people from walking in his intimacy, we rearm what Jesus has defeated and destroy fellowship. Light exposes and dispels darkness, but often we have made it so that darkness dispels and disqualifies us from light. We must not get this message wrong, it is deadly.
Application
I am being continually cleansed from all sin, I live forgiven before you ask, I have been made perfect before I perform, so I will walk in the light all day, every day. I will not allow my darkness, my brokenness to keep me from the light. I will live in the intimacy of the light that my dark places will be revealed and healed and I will walk in a greater measure of wholeness, of light.
Response
Thank you that I never have to be disqualified, never shamed or condemned, thank you that nothing I ever do keeps me from your intimate presence. Thank you that light dispels darkness and not the other way around. This is such a free and beautiful love to life secure in your love allowing the presence of love to bring me into the fullness of being me. What a life.
Meditation
Meditate- the blood of Jesus, his Son, continually cleanses us from all sin.
Consider:
How often do I allow darkness to disqualify me from light?
How intimate is your walk when you are living in known continual sin?
